Course Philosophy

It has been said that, “It’s the little things in life that determine the big things.”  It is crucial that new converts first be grounded in the basic truths of the Bible, if they are ever going to become giants of the faith.  The Redwoods of California start out as a seed that weighs about 1/6000th of an ounce, and yet from that seed will spring forth a tree with the potential of reaching heights of over 350 feet.  So it is with the new believer, there is tremendous potential, but that potential can only be realized when the believer is grounded in the word of God.  The whole thrust of this discipleship material is GROWING.  Not only is this an acronym for the lesson topics, but it is truly the purpose of this seven week endeavor. In II Peter 3:18 we are commanded to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”.  Because Jesus is the word made flesh, the best way that a person can grow in the knowledge of Christ, is by studying the Bible.  It is for this reason that this curriculum incorporates a method of daily Bible reading, coupled with question and answer, and scripture memory, to accomplish the task of grounding the disciple in basic Biblical truth.

"Conversion without discipleship is openly implied in much of our evangelical teaching. It has become strangely possible to be Christ's without taking up the cross."

- C. D. Alexander

"Salvation is free, but discipleship costs everything we have."

- Billy Graham
